Why We Disclose AI Use (And Think Everyone Should)
We use AI in our content production pipeline. We say so on every product, every site, and in our terms of service. Here’s why.
### The simple reason
Readers deserve to know how content was made. Full stop.
### The practical reason
AI-assisted content has specific strengths and specific weaknesses. It’s excellent at structured research synthesis, consistent formatting, and producing large volumes of well-organized content. It’s less reliable on nuanced judgment calls, novel insights, and emotional authenticity.
When you know AI was involved, you read with appropriate calibration. You trust the frameworks and checklists (where AI excels) and apply your own judgment to the strategic recommendations (where human context matters).
### What our disclosure actually means
**AI-assisted drafting.** Large language models generate initial drafts under defined author personas with specific voice profiles and subject-matter constraints.
**Human review.** Every page is read by a human editor before publication. Not skimmed. Read. The editor checks for accuracy, tone, logical gaps, and claims that need evidence.
**Quality gates.** Automated scoring on multiple dimensions (accuracy, actionability, clarity, completeness) catches issues before human review.
**Not fully autonomous.** Our pipeline has human checkpoints at every critical stage. The AI handles scale. Humans handle judgment.
### What we think the industry should do
Every publisher using AI should disclose it. Not because AI content is bad. Because readers deserve to make informed choices about what they read and buy.
Amazon KDP now requires AI disclosure. The FTC has issued guidance. The EU AI Act has labeling requirements. The direction is clear.
We’d rather be early and transparent than late and forced. And we think the publishers who disclose openly will earn more trust than those who hide it.
### Our commitment
We will always disclose AI involvement in our content. We will always maintain human review. And we will always prioritize the quality of the output over the speed of the process.
